Not all dreams are from God, but you’d be surprised how many dreams are from Him. Could God be instructing you or releasing some new strategy to you for an important situation? Could He desire to release a new song, an invention, or plan that would bring great blessing to others through you? These thoughts are not far fetched… in fact, many great inventors and composers received their masterpieces in their dreams!
You might ask, “Why would God speak in such a way? Why not just speak directly and plainly?” You’ll remember that Jesus’ disciples asked the same question and you can read His answer in Matthew 13:10 -13. This hidden language of symbolism and pictures can reveal things to us that we would never see otherwise. Understanding our dreams can give us insights and answers that allude us.
I have been studying Biblical dream interpretation for over ten years and find it incredibly exciting to help someone interpret their dreams. If the person takes the dream seriously and seeks God for the interpretation, it always leads to a deeper communion with God and clarity about their life situation. I recently had the privilege to teach an introduction to dreams to a group of Christian Education teachers. It was fascinating for them to consider. One brave woman shared a reoccuring dream with the class. We all had some thoughts about it. Then the Holy Spirit gave me a bit of the biblical interpretation. It was amazing to see this young woman’s reaction! She was moved to tears as the Lord poured out His love and compassion through the interpretation. I believe a real inner hurt was healed through this encouraging word. That’s how God’s Word works – especially through dreams.
